Almere Stoomfestival: The real landings

22 and 23 of may it finally happend: the real landing drills after months of training. Keep Them Laning and American Patrol arrived on the 21st for the preparations and in the morning of the 22nd 11.00 hours was H-hour for us.
The Boat Team leaves the LCA in rows of three. Here the first and middle row of infantry- and wirecutting team is hitting the beach with Lt BJ Gordon leading the boat team.

The first row has landed. The second (right) row with the Machine Gun Team of cpl Parts is moving to the right. Pvt Van Lugt of the bangalor Team first row is still visable.
Men take cover behind the hedgehogs.
The third row with the demolition team has landed. A pole charge is clearly visable.  The boatteam is ready to move out and knock out the strongpoints defending the beach exits.
With Mg en rifle fire covering the bunker the wirecutting team is moving out to blow a hole in the barbedwire, so the boat team can move of the beach.

A bangalor is placed under the barbedwire.
In the meantime the demoteam is waiting to move out as soon as the bangolor is blown. MG fire is covering the German bunker.
KaBoom!!!, We have a hole! demoteam up front!!!
A polecharge is knocking out the German MG hole. This bunker is out of action.

The team can move of the beach and...
...work its way up the dunes. After knocking out the enemy stroingpoints, the boat teams will move to the battalion assembly erea and will be formed into normal infantry formations.
Our Special thanks is going to Keep Them Landing (http://www.keepthemlanding.nl/). They have driven their boat for about ten hours to reach the landing location from Den Helder to Almere Haven.
And offcours we want to thank the organisation of Almere Stoomfestival (http://www.almerestoomfestival.nl/) who has been a great host.
